What are they saying on Perfection?
SMITH WIGGLESWORTH (In "Wigglesworth on the Anointing")
“We have been laid hold on” by Christ so that we may be made perfect. Even though we have had a thousand failures, it does not matter, for God has laid hold of us. For the perfection, the ideal perfection, we must have nothing less than sonship, nothing less than purity. “BE YE THEREFORE PERFECT “. (Matthew 5:48)
Jesus saved you in order to present you to God, “…holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight.” – PERFECT. But as revealed in Wigglesworth’s message, perfection does not necessarily mean sinlessness.
PASTOR E. A. ADEBOYE (Open Heavens, Saturday January 7, 2017)
“There are many misconceptions about God’s demand for perfection. These misconceptions have led some people to ERRONEOUSLY (emphasis mine) conclude that perfection is an unrealistic aim in the Christian walk, and should therefore be abandoned. To debunk this line of thought, our Lord Jesus Christ in today’s memory verse (Matthew 5:48) re-echoes His Father’s demand for our perfection…Why do people see God’s demand for our perfection as being unattainable? It’s because they think that perfection is to be attained by our own strength…Obedience in faith brings justification, which is the key to perfection.”
